About Us

SORBA Chattanooga is more than just a riding club. It is an advocacy organization that helps keep the trails you ride open to all mountain bikes. We work with land managers and policy makers to develop fair and responsible policies governing the use of public and private lands.

Trail Work

Volunteer Trail Work: Our volunteers design, develop, construct and maintain trails. SORBA-Chattanooga volunteers are responsible for constructing the trails on Raccoon Mountain, constructing an additional 2.5 miles of trail at Booker T. Washington State Park, and constructing a mile long turn pike project at Harrison Bay State Park. In addition, our members volunteer time to help maintain the trail systems at the Lula Lake Land Trust and the Cherokee National Forest's Chilhowee and Tanasi trial networks. If you are interested in how to build and maintain sustainable trails, simply attend one of our trail work parties. No trail work experience necessary, our veteran trial workers will show you everything you need to know. More »

Advocacy: In 2004, we set a goal of increasing the amount of mountain bike accessible singletrack in the region to 100 miles of singletrack by the year 2010. This is a lofty goal as when we started there was only about 7 miles of publicly accessible singletrack in the greater Chattanooga-area. After several year as of advocacy and a lot of volunteer labor we have increased this number to nearly 30 miles, and we are working on more singletrack opportunities. More »

Group Rides

Group Rides: We lead weekday and weekend rides throughout the year. If you are a beginner or an advance rider, we have a group ride for your ability level. If you are a new to mountain biking check out our no-one-left-behind beginner level rides. See our calendar for a list of rides and other activities. More »
